Under a Hazy Moon is based on the image of light shining off of the moon on a cloudy night. The texture is constantly turning as the clouds move and the light shifts. The work begins with two central pitches with little flashes of light bursting through. The first theme is a delicate melody that floats over arpeggiated chords. The second theme is dance-like as the harmony moves through a reflection of the two-pitch structure modulated a third away. Flashes of light emerge from this dance and the work ends as it began, closing with the ghostly ringing of a single note.
