Sense & Innocence by Dave Maric

Sense & Innocence consists of 4 linked movements and a short coda. Movement 1 sets up a sensual and expectant atmosphere. Movement 2 introduces a perceptible tempo and reaches a violent climax which is abruptly interrupted by a highly contrasted Movement 3 where an opportunity arises for the percussionist to collaborate with the bowed sounds on CD by bowing crotales and a selection of cymbals. The final movement uses a very straightforward harmonic and rhythmic language and reaches a passionate conclusion which leads finally to a short coda that recollects in a new context the atmosphere found at the very beginning of the piece.
