Description
“Memories of the Alhambra” was written in 1896 by the Spanish guitarist and composer, Francisco Tarrega. He was inspired by the famous Moorish citadel in Granada that dates from the 9th century. Tarraga combines a beautiful melody with the guitar tremolo technique (repeated notes that blend to create a melody with a sustained sound) with a counter melody in the bass played by the thumb. Rebecca Kite uses a one hand roll in the right hand to play the melody and the left hand to play the counter-melody in this beautifully effective transcription.
