Intermediate Masterworks for Marimba Volume 1 for Solo Marimba was designed for the advancing student of the marimba, this book contains solos written by some of the most highly regarded composers of marimba literature today including: Robert Aldridge, Anders Hillborg, Steven Mackey, and more. The marimba solos in this book are great for study, recital, and performance. Each piece contains elements of both basic four mallet and very advanced four mallet marimba technique. This first of two volumes of 12 new works each (16 works commissioned by the Zeltsman Marimba Festival, plus 8 winners of the ZMF 2008 composition contest) is part of the answer to the shortcomings of the intermediate-level marimba repertoire.
