Encore in D Major by Casey Cangelosi

Encore in D Major “Love Note” by Casey Cangelosi is a gentle, lyrical work for solo marimba, taking advantage of the natural warmth of the instrument in its harmonic and melodic content. A far cry from some of the extremely virtuosic music Cangelosi is often known for, this piece takes the clear melodic and harmonic structure that is usually present in his music and strips it down to a simpler texture.

The result is an endearing, emotional work that gives a musical performer a chance to really shine. This is a great piece to explore a performer’s ability to musically express an idea or emotion, as the clarity of the orchestration and the simplicity of the harmony are a vehicle for emotional effect.

It is written for 5-octave marimba, but could be easily adjusted to fit on a 4.5-octave instrument, and possible to adjust for 4.3 as well.
