Description

Written between 1986-1987 in Brasilia, Cenas Amerindias I E II by Ney Rosauro are based on rhythmic and melodic motifs from the Indian music of Brazil. The percussion instruments used in combination with the mallets not only add colour, but also provide an important melodic function.

While contrasting stylistically, both pieces show some common features: the use of whole tone scale, augmented chords, and melodic themes played in seconds or sevenths.

  • BRASILIANA, is written as a hommage to the city of Brasilia. It contains very symmetric structures that are directly related to the strong geometric shapes in which the city plan was built.
  • ELDORADO, features bright metal sounds. Depicting men’s dreams and the crazy search for the magic Golden Land.
