The concept of the cascade effect refers to the impact one event has on multiple related events. In this piece, the cascade effect refers to both the movement of thematic material as the mallets cascade across the marimba, as well the continuous flow of the piece, reminiscent of the flow of water cascading over rapids or falls. Originally written for solo marimba with percussion trio, Cascade Effect for Solo Marimba takes the melodic lines and grooves from the original trio parts and integrates them into the solo with flair.
