Upset the Marmoset by Brandon Dittgen

So there I was… stranded on a broken-down tour bus deep within the jungle of Cozumel Mexico. As our group waited for the next bus, we were entertained by the driver and his co-pilot “Upset,” a Black-Tufted Marmoset who sat perched on the dashboard. For over an hour, the driver performed calypso tunes on his guitar while Upset spun and danced about. When we were finally able to exit the vehicle, Upset the Marmoset gracefully held out his tip basket to collect his compensation for our afternoon of unique entertainment.

Upset the Marmoset is an original composition written for steel pan ensemble in the style of early Calypso. Easily adaptable for any size pan ensemble, this work is sure to set the right mood for any steel pan performance.
