Description

Tac Tic is a teaching method for beginner percussionists. Its main objective is the progressive study of various rhythms and their different stickings. Easy mnemonic techniques help memorize rhythmic patterns. The instruments needed are: a snare drum, of course, and two tom-toms which give this method a more playful turn. Each lesson brings something new and consists of exercises and little etudes and duets.

Exercices and etudes are meant to be played first on the snare drum alone, then with the adjunction of the tom-toms. Rhythms and stickings remain the same in this second version.

The teacher – or a more advanced pupil – shall play the second voice in the duets. The play-along accompaniment CD is intended for personal home practice. It will enable the student to play the duets at three different tempo: 1) rather slow, 2) somewhat faster, 3) more faster. Indicated tempos at the top of the piece are the more faster.

Each lesson introduces a new rhythmic patterns to be repeated over and over again in order to get a regular beat and a good feeling for it.

Short coordination exercises open a perspective on the study of drums and percussion. This is the reason why we’ve placed the high tom-tom in front of the snare drum and the low tom-tom to its right.
