Swords of Power by Daniel McCarthy

With two nearly identical set-ups, “Swords of Power” is an impressive piece in two movements: “Orcrest: The Goblin Cleaver” and “Glamdring: The Foe Hammer.” The first movement exploits all the possibilities of dialogue between the two performers with a brisk ending of trading 32nd notes. The second movement is much more groove-oriented, with maracas going throughout. While one performer is playing the groove, the other is soloing over top with rock and funk fills. Audiences will love it!
