Description
Thomas Pitfield’s Sonata for Xylophone Solo has the distinction of being the first piece written for the instrument that calls for more than one mallet per hand. As such, it has a special place in the repertoire.
This piece is written in four movements: Introduction, Intermezzo, Reel, and Toccata. The compositional style is playful and very tonal – and a bit repetitive.
