Most commercial Bass Drum beaters are very heavy and large, with nice looking but dead feeling wood handles. They work adequately on the very large drums symphony orchestras can use in large concert halls but are too cumbersome for the smaller Bass Drums most of us play. These beaters have cane handles, thicker than the ones used for Timpani sticks, and if you buy a pair they will be properly matched. The heads are smaller and able to get a full sound without muffling the drum.
