Description
PUNXÂ by Ivan Trevino is an homage to the punk rock music of his youth, adapted for a medium-sized percussion ensemble. It has formed his musical style, teaching him that it’s ok to be different.
It opens up with a standard double-time punk rock beat that anybody born after 1980 should recognize, quickly developing into an “anthem” with a long melody over the bar line. The harmonies and chord structures are all directly pulled from punk music, but it’s not quite as harsh on percussion keyboard instruments.
This is a high-energy piece of music that will fit well on any concert, especially between two pieces of darker, more serious character.
