Okavango – Fanfare for Afrian Drums by Damien Harron

Okavango was written during the recording of BackBeat Percussion Quartet’s first CD. We decided that we needed a short, powerful drum piece to open the CD. I rushed home and wrote the piece for 4 African djembes based on some riffs that had been knocking around in my head for a while. It turned out to be a great fanfare and has open all of BackBeat’s concerts for the past few years.
