No Matter What You Do is an energetic work for percussion and piano duet, that combines elements of minimalism, post-rock, and electronica. From hypnotic rhythmic textures to dreamy lyrical textures, this challenging work brings both the players and the audience on a journey through the literary concept of having to discover your own truth and face your fate head-on.

Program Notes
No Matter What You Do is about a concept that appears in many of my favorite pieces of literature, in which someone finds themselves in a situation where they cannot escape the fate. In these pieces of literature, the person in question attempts to escape a great danger, whether it be literal or in their mind, however they reach a point of realization and must allow themselves to succumb to the danger they had attempted to escape. This piece is structured in three sections, titled The Escape, Consciousness, and The Return, aurally represent the three moments in these kinds of stories. I don’t want to mention any of my specific literary inspirations here, because I want the listener to think of a story of their choosing when listening to this piece.
