Description
Musée was commissioned by Dr. John Parks IV and the Florida State University Percussion Ensemble. In the fall of 2006, Bobo and his wife, Emily, took a trip to Paris, France. While there, they spent time visiting the many museums this wonderful city has to offer. Musée begins with the anticipation of standing in line waiting for a museum to open. Once inside, it is meant to capture the experience of wandering from room to room and exploring the various works of art. Throughout the museum, one will be drawn to some works that he or she can’t stop staring at and frequently revisits, while others are simply given a brief glance and then almost immediately forgotten. On the day that Bobo and his wife visited the Musée d’Orsay, a noisy group of elementary school students on a field trip came through one of the rooms, which Bobo included in the piece. Musée ends with the idea of leaving the museum and reflecting on all the works of art visited while inside.
