Mendelssohn Konzert is primarily based on the third movement of Felix Mendelssohn’s violin concerto. Fragments from other movements are also present. The violin part translates to marimba for both range and virtuosity. This piece was originally written for Deagan’s artist special xylophone no.266 which has a range of four-and-a-half-octaves made in 1935 and remodeled in 1962. This version was arranged for four-octave marimba to make it playable all over the world.
