Description

Joaquin On Sunshine is a creatively-titled piece for a large ensemble of 15-17 players (the extra players are preferable if the marimba parts can be doubled). It has a festive, soulful Afro-Cuban flavor and is thickly scored with a full complement of Latin rhythm section instruments—piano, bass, drumset, timbales, congas, bongos, and shekere. Typical “strong” beats are rarely where melodic or rhythmic emphasis aligns. This emphasis on syncopation and inner-beat rhythms make it an excellent piece to practice groove and ensemble awareness. Joaquin On Sunshine would make a great closer for larger percussion ensemble concerts.

This piece comes with a full, bound score and includes a CD-Rom containing an audio recording and all individual parts available for printing.
