From Spring to Spring by Thea Musgrave

From Spring to Spring by Thea Musgrave is a four mallet solo scored for 5 octave marimba and optional wind chimes. This work is comprised of four short pieces that are closely based on the concerto Journey through a Japanese Landscape. Each piece represents an emotional journey through one of the four seasons. Each season is announced by a ‘peal’ on the wind chimes: bamboo for spring, wood for summer, metal for autumn and glass for winter. This piece is originally scored for a 5 octave marimba but notes are included to adapt it for a 4.3 octave marimba.
