Description

After heavy rainfall, the shallow river in the valley grows wide, and the water dances over the stones on the river bed.  This short piece for 4 mallet Marimba is a moto perpetuo, with an ostinato starting in the bottom register of the Marimba fading in gradually.  This is then overlaid with a melody, stated twice and followed both times by a chordal refrain.  After the second refrain the music subsides into quietness, followed by a crescendo that culminates in the return of the ostinato in the top register and a slow fade.
