Bagatai by Legeay Bagati

Bagatai by P. Legeay represents an attempt to adapt a traditional dance from Guinea. The composer writes, “Far from wishing to, or even being able to, make a literal transcription of the music, my aim was rather to provide the particular atmosphere surrounding the events (a circumcision ceremony) so that it could be played by percussion pupils without recourse to new techniques or special instruments.”
