Description

And the Earth Melted Into the Sun is about the imagery of the giant mass of the Earth cascading into the Sun and vanishing as if nothing was ever there. This piece is for a large percussion ensemble. It was written for the Ohio Northern University Percussion Ensembles under the direction of Dr. Sarah Waters. She was one of the biggest influences on my musical career, so this piece is dedicated to my very last concert performing under her instruction. This piece shows exactly what her personality and teaching philosophy shows: everyone can play together and make music in harmony no matter what the conditions are. In such a small school, there is a desire for musicians to play, whether they are music majors or not. This is dedicated to the strong percussion program she holds and to her phenomenal efforts in the percussion community through Ohio Northern University.
