21 for cello, Marimba & Electronics by Andy Akiho

This is the original version of 21 for Cello and Tenor Steel Pan. The cellist also plays a kick drum, and is in charge of triggering a looping pedal. The steel pannist plays a tambourine attached to a foot pedal and also strikes the skirt of the pan in addition to the normal pan techniques. The prepared pan is optional (chopsticks may be substituted for this section). The optional prepared pan is a bore pan with small rubber bands attached to paper clips through the bored holes of the pan. This is to mimic a Bartok, or snap, pizzicato technique. There is a picture of a prepared pan included with the score.
