kjur (extreme measures) for percussion quartet is a fast aggressive piece written for two marimbas and two percussionists. It moves quickly between sections using complicated rhythmic motives and time signatures. A simple melody appears over and over in different rhythmic and harmonic contexts. The final section is a long build up in the percussion to a unison pattern in the marimbas. The piece was written in 2000 and was first performed by 4-mality percussion quartet.
