Kato’s Revenge by Ozone arr. Simon Carrington

This arrangement is based upon the performance of Kato’s Revenge that Makoto Ozone and Gary Burton recorded for their album Face to Face. I am hugely grateful to them both for allowing me to use their phenomenal material.

Much of what you hear on Makoto and Gary’s incredible recording is, of course improvised and this arrangement is based on what they played. The section between J and K is a natural vehicle for vibe players who wish to improvise and they can do so over the eight bar chord progression that is stated. Alternatively, I have provided part of the splendid solo that Gary played on the recording.
