This work is an arrangement of Jettatura which was written for piano in 1999. It is a short, unaccompanied moto perpetuo and another example of Psathas’ gift for creating high-every, compelling works. Requiring heave and impassioned execution, Jettatura is shot through with defiance and aggression. In the piano original the left hand hammers a stream of ostinati while the right hand flies almost incautiously over the keys, stretching to the piano’s upper register.
