Chris Retschulte takes advantage of the timbral spectrum of mallet percussion to create an effective setting of Beethoven’s wildly famous Bagatelle No. 25 in A Minor, better known as Für Elise, for 5–6 players. The most prominent voice belongs to the vibraphone, enhancing the intimate, ethereal quality of the original. The glockenspiel, xylophone, and marimba parts link to the vibraphone line, raising the bar on the musicality and also creating a nice aural variety throughout this beginning to intermediate-level piece. A timpanist and optional double bass player provide the low end for the arrangement.
