Batu Ferringhi by Siegfried Ferringhi is a four mallet solo written for 4.3 octave marimba. This five movement piece was influenced by the dramatic art form of shadow theater of the Southeast Asian civilizations. The main characters of the shadow theater are traced with the sound and the phrasing possibilities of the marimba and thematically associated with each of these characters.
