Peter joined Huddersfield University  in 2005 as a Senior Lecturer in Music, he then had the role of Subject Area Leader for the School of Music, Humanities and Media in Barnsley before becoming the Head of Campus at the University Campus Barnsley in 2010.

Before joining the University Peter worked for over 20 years as a self-employed musician, working as a percussionist with Dame Shirley Bassey, Frankie Lane, Gene Pitney, Michael Crawford, Matthew Herbert, Andre Boccelli and many other artists. He also has years of experience in radio, television, film and music recording, as a performer and composer/ arranger.

His composition and arrangement credits include work for Max Jaffa, the band of the Royal Yacht Britannia, Percussion Unlimited, Legends, Sounding Syncopated, many commissions for school and college groups, film and radio. His music publishing company has a catalogue of over 500 works, mainly for percussion, jazz orchestra and ensembles in education.

Peter always envisaged a career change to work in education and en route to the University he has worked for the Leeds College of Music, Royal Northern College of Music, Bretton Hall, Wakefield and Barnsley Colleges.
