Gerhard Stengert compositional activity began at the age of 26 years. For the most part, his works are for percussion instruments. He has written several pieces for marimba solo, duo and quartet Mallet, timpani, percussion (solo to sextet).
In addition to his concert, he also wrote many educational pieces for the music school work. Many of his compositions survive on their basic character of melancholy, meditative elements and sometimes hard, very rhythmic rock-influenced eruptions.

The purpose of this album is, to faciliate the progress for the two mallet to the four mallet technique. For this reason, 10 of the 13 pieces in this book are composed for 3 mallets. 7 pieces can also be played as mallet duo on one instrument.
