Mark Davies (LGSM) started his drumming career at the age of 14 playing with semi-professional bands. He has provided material covering studio, session work and radio recordings across all genres for named bands and artists over the years. As a professional he plays with concert and show bands as well as his own percussion ensembles and is currently involved in recording work for a more 'alternative' signed group. Many of the pieces used for his percussion ensemble work have been composed by Mark, either based on popular themes or completely his own arrangements, this enables him to write pieces according to the specific level of the group involved. Mark's catalogue of compositions now exceeds 100 pieces! His teaching work also includes a range of material suitable for workshops in primary and secondary schools. For students studying towards exams, Mark has created several specific study course books incorporating detailed practice schedules. These include breakdowns of more complex rhythms and the development musicianship skills. One of Mark's Percussion Ensemble groups has been involved in numerous fundraising activities including a sponsored percussion marathon involving over 70 children playing non-stop for 2 hours to raise money for Cancer Research. Mark and his ensembles have performed in theatres across the UK, including performing with the Rhos Orpheus Male Voice Choir. One group recently came joint first in the 2010 National Pro-Corda Festival and has completed a tour of Paris, the UK and overseas.
